Wellington City Libraries Presents: The Pōneke Pride Poetry Slam!

Wellington City Libraries Presents: The Pōneke Pride Poetry Slam!

Join us for The Pōneke Pride Poetry Slam - showcasing & celebrating our LQBTQIA+ community in the capital!

We welcome Queer Wordsmiths and Rainbow allies alike to watch/judge/compete in a friendly, 2 round poetry competition.

Each poet has 3 minutes to read their original work (no props/costumes/instruments). We'd love for poets to share works during the festival with a focus on topics and themes of identity, gender, and sexuality.

5 random judges selected from the audience will score each poet on a scale of 1-10. The highest and lowest scores are dropped for each round and the poet with the highest cumulative score wins!

This event will be MC’d by 2x Wellington Poetry Slam Champion, Tarns Hood.

Registrations are essential for poets as spaces are capped at 8. Registrations open on the first day of the Wellington Pride Festival, Friday 7 March.

This event is for poets and audience members aged 16+ and is supported by Motif Poetry.
