Moana Vā – Navigators of Pacific Pride has recently celebrated its 3rd birthday. Based in Ōtautahi Christchurch, it provides support, advocacy, and mentorship for Pacific Rainbow+ individuals and their whānau.
In this talanoa, founder Vui Suli Tuitaupe will share insights about the vision, journey, highlights, and challenges of this Pacific Rainbow+ organisation.
Vui Suli Tuitaupe is Sāmoan, born and raised in Ōtautahi, Aotearoa New Zealand, and bestowed a chief title, Vui, from his mother's village of Leauva'a in 2022.
Founder and chair of Moana Vā – Navigators of Pacific Pride, a collective that supports and empowers our Pacific Rainbow+ communities locally and online. Vui's vision for Moana Vā is being a collective that supports, advocates, empowers, mentors, and strengthens MVPFAFF+, LGBTQIA+, and Rainbow+ communities locally and globally.
The Manalagi Project is a research project that aims to better understand the health, wellbeing and general experiences of Pacific Rainbow+ MVPFAFF+ communities in Aotearoa New Zealand. The Manalagi Project has come together with Te Papa to continue to share and understand the experiences of our communities; this time through the sharing of taonga and stories.
